Currently Head of Primary Care in Dublin South, Kildare and West Wicklow Community Healthcare in the Health Service Executive (HSE) in Ireland, a member of the CHO Executive Management team, former Portfolio Lead and Head of the Programme Management Office (PMO), Operational Lead of the National Transit Centre, and Chief Operations Officer and Hospital Management of a regional acute hospital. Brian holds a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng Hons) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering and an MSc in Bioengineering with 1st class Distinction from Trinity College Dublin, with research interests focusing around electrophysiological signal analyses. His primary area of research has been into the analysis and use of behavioural actions and electroencephalograph (EEG) signals recorded from stroke patients in relation to attention disorders associated with unilateral spatial neglect.Brian also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Project Management from Trinity College Dublin with first class Distinction, a graduate of the IMI Leading Care Excellence in Leadership and a recent graduate of the Professional Diploma in Organisational Development and Transformation in the IMI with a first class distinction.As a Senior Clinical Engineer, Brian has been involved in medical equipment, technology and clinical information system management, along with senior roles in project management and hospital services such as power generation and medical gas systems. As Portfolio Lead, Brian has worked with the organisation on the strategic development of various programmes around service improvement and delivery, including Enhanced Community Care (ECC) and Integrated Children’s Services, and has led out on the development of a change and transformation training programme within the healthcare organisation.Brian has a keen interest in professional development and is the immediate past Chairperson and recent past Professional Development Officer of the national body for Biomedical/Clinical Engineers (BEAI) in Ireland. He is the past National Secretary of the Clinical Engineering Professional Vocational Group (CEPVG), and an Independent Expert with NSAI. He was the National representative for Clinical Engineers on the Health & Social Care Professionals (HSCP) National Advisory Group within the Health Service Executive of Ireland. Brian is also a board member of the International IFMBE Clinical Engineering Division (CED) and has worked with various members of IFMBE, GCEA, EAMBES and IUPESM in a collaborative manner over the years.
