Technical Lead for process development activities encompassing a full portfolio of neuromodulation products, including leads, stimulators, and accessories. Responsible for planning out and supervising process development work for a team of engineers and technicians, developing line layouts, evaluating capital needs (equipment and tooling), and establishing lines for development and eventual transfer into production. Also directly involved with technical challenges related to sourcing and evaluating components (including molded, stamped, machined, and electrical), creating and verifying design requirements, and establishing process capabilities.Processes that I have focused on for process development have included laser welding, laser marking, laser ablation, thermal bonding, adhesive/curing, crimping/swaging, coiling, soldering, and micro assembly processes. I have also spent time developing software to run product specific processes on manufacturing equipment as well as design custom tooling to fit specific applications. In addition to my own technical work, I have also established templates and work standards for other team members to use for development work.

Responsible for developing manufacturing processes for new products under development with Medtronic's Restorative Therapy Group. Processes that I focused on were laser welding, laser ablation, laser marking, and assembly processes for therapy delivery products. Responsibilities included designing equipment, tooling, writing software programs (laser control software (typically ILT's HMI-2200), Cognex VisionPro, etc.), and working with manufacturing sites to implement process automation when possible as well as evaluate manufacturability of new products. Also was responsible for a failure analysis and mechanical dissection for design and process groups, utilizing cross section, SEM, EBSD, etc., to look at welds, molded joints, mechanical assemblies, and new design elements.

Responsible for IQ/OQ/PQ, pFMEAs, TMVs, and equiment/tooling development for both medical device components (molded parts, batteries, capacitors, etc.) and finished devices (leads and IPGs). Supported products through production launch. Also responsible for managing and executing work to support multiple CAPAs across manufacturing sites, including revalidation efforts and making process improvements to improve process capabilities, repeatability, and controls.
