Co-founded CXO, L.L.C., which was acquired by FTI in 2008. Within FTI's Corporate Finance segment he co-leads both the Technology and the Aerospace, Defense and Government Contracting Practices. In the past 20 years he has served as Chairman, Director, CEO/interim CEO or CRO of over 30 public and private technology, telecom and defense companies, and, since 2000, has led or supported over 50 engagements involving all aspects of TMT, including semiconductors, gaming, consumer electronics, broadcast TV, software (packaged and SaaS/IaaS/PaaS, etc), integrators, auto parts, defense contractors, cable, equipment manufacturers, ISPs, call centers/BPOs and data center providers. These projects have involved every aspect of corporate performance, from strategy and go-to-market planning to revenue enhancement to cost cutting to supply chain management to logistics/returns management to over-the-top transmission to restructuring. Over the last two decades, Dr. Kushner has bought or sold over 20 companies and has conducted diligence on over 40 companies for Private Equity and hedge funds, along with providing assistance to organizations in EBITDA enhancement, go-to-market planning, IP monetization, cyber-security, secure cloud strategies, outsourcing, process optimization and SG&A cost reduction. Other recent operational and advisory engagements have included several technology and logistics company assignments, Relativity Media, Playboy Enterprises, Broadview, Spansion, XO, Isola, Midway Games, OneComm, Nortel, PR Wireless, Holley Auto Products, several cable firms and many confidential assignments. Dr. Kushner has been a testifying expert in over a dozen large matters relating to all aspects of TMT, IT, data centers and M&A. Dr. Kushner was the 1997 recipient of KPMG’s Information, Communications, and Entertainment Entrepreneur of the Year award in Austin for Industry Leadership in Entrepreneurial Companies of less than 200 Employees.

Joined with PE firm to turnaround Sage Telecom, a Texas CLEC, after the purchase of the company in 2007, Served as CEO and acting Chairman of Sage Telecom. Led the turnaround of Sage from a loss to EBITDA of 18% of revenues in 9 months, reducing bad debt from over 11% to about 2% and monthly churn from over 7.5% to under 4% in the same timeframe. Sage was sold to a strategic buyer in mid-2012.

Served as interim CEO of IT, cyber-security and engineering services defense contractor with operations at major US military installations, in Asia, and in Iraq and Afghanistan. Completed an out of court restructuring of the company, stabilized liquidity and operations, resolved customer issues, outstanding incurred cost audit issues with DCAA and settled major litigation. Arranged for sale of the company in multiple strategic transactions.

Pacific Crossing was the former Asia-Pacific affiliate of Global Crossing. Led the company through a contentious bankruptcy in the US, Japan, UK and Bermuda, stabilized operations, grew revenue and generated profits and positive cash flow, and resolved over $2 B in claims. Hired a replacement CEO in 2007 and transitioned to a Director role, resulting in the sale of the company to NTT in 2009.
