Director Of Information Technology
I oversaw all aspects of the management, maintenance, and direction of the university IT department. The physical network consists of two campuses, 19 buildings, 400+ computers, 5 computer labs, 20+ Cisco switches and routers, 20+ device VMWare virtual infrastructure, Avaya PBX phone system, Microsoft infrastructure; AD, XP, 7, 2010 servers. I managed, trained, and mentored a cohesive team of IT professionals and a number of student assistants to maintain and innovate within the IT department, which also included the IT support help desk. I oversaw all operational groups including security, monitoring, and architecture/operations. I created and maintained policy on all matters pertaining to computers, electronic devices, and security. I worked within South Carolina state and USC policy to obtain support and equipment and in vendor relations. Over the course of my tenure with the university I changed the state of IT creating a knowledgeable and modern IT infrastructure and department. I provided training and incentive programs for employees and student workers seeking additional education and skills. I motivated my staff to excel in their areas of interest and push core IT concepts and best practices. I have created a paperless and medialess infrastructure creating greatly reducing inefficiencies in document and media management. I have created innovative methods of task management allowing greater IT support availability, more efficient task completion, and project/task tracking. I designed applications, physical and logical, creating efficiencies in the areas of human resources, finance, public relations, and IT. I instituted weekly management meetings and a weekly IT forum where IT member present on topics of current IT technology, solutions, and IT training. Presentations were available real-time via video conference across campuses and recorded for colleagues, faculty, and staff training.
