Brian is a water sector and sustainability capacity developer, educator, researcher and boundary spanner. He has significant experience in the design and delivery of applied and inter-disciplinary programs to build capacity for innovation, change and adaptation at individual, organisational and sectoral scales. A recipient of a National Teaching Award, Brian has designed and delivered professionally targeted, problem and work based water management programs and courses to participants from 86 different countries, including having led the development and delivery of water management and engineering Masters in Australia and the UK responsible for educating around 600 graduates now working globally.Brian leads the Environment and Marine Science Discipline at Griffith University, comprising around 25 academic staff who deliver a Bachelor of Marine Science, a Bachelor of Environmental Science, a Master of Climate Change Adaptation, a Master of the Environment, a Master of Integrated Water Management and a Master of Catchment Science. He also oversees the development and delivery of the International Water Centre's water leadership development products including the Water Leadership Program from which around 350 water professionals have graduated.He is currently managing a Program of activities on behalf of the Queensland Government designed to build whole of sector capacity in the development and use of water models and modelling. He is also Co-Lead for Education and Training with the Solving Plastic Waste CRC, where he is focussed on building and delivering an outstanding industrial Doctorate program to create the research-industry leaders needed to drive systemic, sustainable change in our plastics and materials value chains. A recipient of international and national research awards, A/Prof. McIntosh has research interests in the management of water sector innovation and sustainability, and in the design and use of collaborative processes to improve decision making in complex and contested areas of water management. His research work has involved collaboration with partners from 21 countries across Europe, Asia, North Africa and the US and Canada.
