Brian joined the firm in 2019 and is a Director in the Financial Services Tax practice for Grant Thornton. Brian provides tax advice to a diverse portfolio of organizations, including international and domestic banking institutions, asset managers, AIFM's, UCITS fund managers and other fund service providers, private equity institutions, investors, treasury operations, fin tech operations, non-traditional banking sector and other financial services sector clients. He is a Fellow of the Chartered accountants of Ireland and an Associate of the Irish Tax Institute.

Responsibilities included:- providing tax consultancy advice to a diverse portfolio of international and domestic banks, assets managers, treasury operations and other financial services clients.- delivering advice to clients across all tax heads, including the use of specialist teams within the Irish and international practice.- extensive experience in advising clients with regard to structuring acquisitions, disposal of business assets, restructuring of group operations, cross border lending/financing, cross border structured finance transactions, determining appropriate fund structure and domicile from a regulatory and tax perspective, and the impact of OCED, EU and other international developments.- responsible for the timely delivery of the corporation tax compliance obligations of companies with operations spanning both the domestic and international markets. Lead team that has responsibility for the annual tax filing reporting obligations of a large portfolio of clients.

On secondment from PwC Ireland I gained extensive experience in advising US, Irish and other multinational companies across a number of sectors on a range of tax and related matters.Brian experience also includes areas of practice have involved the establishment of various Irish headquartered cross border structures, the expansion of group activities both into and out of Ireland, together with financing/refinancing and other international structuring proposals involving Ireland. Brian also has extensive experience in relation to Irish IP and R&D tax credit regimes for multinationals including those in the tech, pharmaceutical, life science sector and the financial services sector.Other key responsibilities included:- providing broad insight into Irish tax and other business related issues to our existing and prospective client base - ensuring our network were fully informed of Irish and international developments and opportunities- supporting major tax efficient structuring and planning, principal planning, international financing structuring, treaty structuring and M&A activity.- working with clients and prospects on the ground both with and independently of local office- working with law firms/service providers/banks and government bodies to support FDI to Ireland- building a US network (both internally and externally) in the US that I could continue to support on return to Ireland- attend and participate in internal and external events to build profile and develop network.

A member of the Banking and Capital Markets Tax group where principal areas of practice included the provision of tax compliance and consultancy services to financial services institutions and planning investment platform structures for financial services (banking/hedge fund and Private Equity) organizations and in structuring for M&A deals involving Irish acquisitions, including Irish property acquisitions and leasing transactions.

Gained extensive knowledge and experience in auditing fund structures for asset management clients including alternative funds, fund of funds, mutual funds, and Cayman master / feeder hedge funds administered in Ireland reporting under International Financial Reporting Standards’ (“IFRS”), US GAAP and Irish GAAP.
