Following an enlistment as a Tracked Vehicle Repairer in the U.S. Army, which included a combat deployment to Iraq, I transitioned into civilian life as an automotive technician. Over the years, I honed my expertise in diagnosing and repairing a diverse range of vehicles, earning recognition as an ASE Master Certified Technician. Recognizing the physical demands of the role, I embarked on a career shift at age 34, enrolling in a Cybersecurity program at a local community college.Simultaneously, I commenced work as a part-time IT systems administrator while completing my AAS in Cybersecurity. Upon graduation, I advanced into a hybrid security position within the same organization, gradually assuming a primary role in cybersecurity operations. My responsibilities encompassed policy development, security audits, incident response, phishing simulations, and employee training. I recently earned both my A+ and Network+ certifications. Currently, I am focused on earning Security+ certification to further bolster my IT proficiency.
