Liaising with game fair organisers and contactors to ensure the requirements of Teresa’s stand are met for when we arrive also producing risk assessments for these shows.

Hinkley Point C

I'm currently the repair & maintenance supervisor for BYLOR JV, joint venture of Bouygues TP and Laing O’Rourke (BYLOR).BYLOR is a Tier 1 contractor for the main civil engineering and construction contract at the Hinkley Point C project.I organise and oversee the maintenance and repair of all plant on site which includes items from a forklift to a crawler crane or a tower crane to a multi million pound concrete batching plant.

Employed as a finishing manager on one of the largest modular buildings in the UK, my role consists of making sure the rooms, hallways, kitchens and utility rooms are up to the required high standard, liaising with the sub-contractors on site ensuring they are working to Rollalongs standards and producing high quality work within time scale and budget. Ordering materials, rolling out inductions, risk assessments, method statements and dealing with health and safety issues as they arise on site.

I was a Specialist Team Member, I joined the office team to assist in the day to day running of the field team. My day to day role included producing work packs, risk assessments, method statements, safe systems of work, emergency plans, running small construction and engineering works to CDM standard, organising routine maintenance, ordering equipment (small and large plant), managing external contractors, raising purchase orders, ensuring jobs run to plan and within time and budget restraints, checking and signing off weekly and monthly time recording for my team, dealing with the public and emergencies as they arise, assisting with the day to day running of the office and deputising for my Team Leader as required. I also operated on routine emergency standby as an Operations Delivery Controller taking calls and making instant decisions whether to organise and deploy field teams to an incident. I was an integral part of the teams which deployed and organised pumps to send around the country and although I was involved in every flood event, I was heavily involved in the flooding incident of 2014.

20 years experience working in the same depot and in the same team: the emergency workforce, starting with a five year Engineering apprenticeship at age 16 then continuing as a Fabricator and Coded Welder, producing items as diverse as ladders, sluice gates and huge flood defence structures. I provided on site heavy plant fabrication repairs, worked on projects including cofferdams and piling. I was in charge of working from a technical drawing, ordering steelafter obtaining competitive quotes, then producing the product to the British Standard quality with upmost accuracy, then finally arranging the galvanising of the item. I was on routine emergency standby and also when required would be asked to help with flooding or pollution emergencies, which could range from sandbagging to setting up 24” pumps.
