Abjar Hotels is a locally owned Hotel company that has 9 Hotels in its portfolio including the Ritz Carlton Dubai, Sheraton Dubai Creek, Crowne Plaza Deira, Ramada Dubai, Ramada Jumeirah and the four Holiday Inn Express properties in Dubai. I was employed to implement an Engineering Management System that included FLS, Planned Maintenance, Energy Management, Contracts Management etc across the entire portfolio. I also provided technical input to projects including the refurbishment of the Ritz Carlton Dubai and the Sheraton Dubai Creek.

Responsible for setting and enforcing the Engineering Policies and Processes for Jumeirah properties world wide, These included but not restricted to Fire, Life and Safety, Legionella Management, Energy Management. I have over 20 Directors of Engineering from around the world reporting to me as well as a number of Technical Specialists who are based in Dubai.An additional part of my portfolio was to manage the Refurbishment Projects Department for the Jumeirah owned properties which are Madinat Jumeirah, Burj Al Arab, Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Jumeirah Emirates Towers and Wild Wadi. Projects ranged from recent rooms refurbishments at Jumeirah Emirates Towers, Jumeirah Beach Hotel and Mina A Salam Hotel at Madinat Jumeirah to restaurant and public area refurbishments in all of the properties. Some of the more specialised projects include the replacement of the 2 family water slides and the Jumeirah Sceirah water slide at Wild Wadi Waterpark.The third element of my current position was to assume the role of the Client's Representative for the construction of the new hotel at the Madinat Jumeirah Resort, which is currently known as Madinat Jumeirah Phase 4. I was instrumental in setting up the procurement of the design and supervision professional team which included the appointment of Mirage Leisure Development as well as setting up the various processes involved in a hotel development of this magnitude.

I was recruited as the Director of Engineering for the Madinat Jumeirah Resort which comprises of 2 Boutique Hotels and the Dar Al Maysaf summer villas. I was responsible for the strategic planning of the engineering department with an emphasis on making the department more efficient by reducing costs whilst maintaining service levels.

General Manager of 2 properties at Sun International Royal Swazi Sun Resort, additional responsibilities included engineering services for the resort.

Operations Manager of Sun City's timeshare resort. Resort was awarded RCI Gold Crown status.

Due to continued studies both technical and managerial my career progressed and I became the Maintenance Manager of the Sun City Cabanas, then the Sun City Hotel.
