Working with faculty mentor Brad Watkins, historic and cultural toponyms (place names) were extracted from GLO plats conducted in the Choctaw Nation during the 1890s. Once extracted, the toponyms were input into a geodatabase and, where possible, translated into English. The data extracted will be useful during future projects in measuring the historical continuity of places in one of the largest tribal nations in Indian Territory.
