I initially started my career in 1984 working with young offenders, later working in a mixed sex adolescent residential home. I became a qualified social worker in 1989 then working in Child Protection and Long Term Children’s Team. Following the introduction of the N.H.S. and Community Care Act 1990, implemented in 1993, and growth of Adult Services, I was appointed as a Social Worker for people with Physical Disabilities within a geographical area of approximately 450 square miles.After a short period out of Social work I started work at North East Lincolnshire Council and being appointed as a Senior Care Manager within the Older Peoples Teams. Whilst working with adults, I have developed my knowledge and skills, working within the guidelines to legislation that now includes the recent Care Act.During my 30 years of working within the caring profession I have gained a high level of experience in multi-agency work, undertaking assessments, Care Planning, Commissioning, implementation and reviewing packages of care in supporting the service user, families and carers. I also have experience as a Vulnerable Adults Investigator and more recently a BIA/DOLS Assessor.I consider myself as being an honest, reliable, trust worthy and open person and have an easy going approachable personality. I always try to take pride in what I do and do my best whether in work or play. I have analytical approach when dealing with situations and use this style when solving problems and also when reflecting my practice. I try to involve myself as a team player that includes assisting and supporting colleagues but not to the expense of not being able to work alone and make difficult decisions. I work better with people I respect and trust and will voice my opinion if I believe something is not right or correct. I work and expect to achieve a high standard and competent level of practice that is under pinned by my morals and values which I expect similar from those around me.
