I have been on this project since it arrived in the North Sea in May 2016. I have been heavily involved in the commissioning and start up of all the chemical injection systems. Now that the plant is up and running I have been troubleshooting start up problems and performing all the analysis required to maintain a steady plant within stringent environmental guidelines.The remit of the job has remained the same as it has been detailed below.

Involved with the trials of various chemicals including new H2S scavengers, demulsifiers, corrosion inhibitors, scale inhibitors and multitreats. This included writing trial procedures, monitoring frequency, monitoring, troubleshooting and liaising with both onshore and offshore technical personnel to ensure smooth operation of trials for optimum efficiency.Working primarily on the BP Clair as the senior rotational chemist I have gained extensive experience in most aspects of chemical analysis, plant process operation and chemical management. Organising my own workload, along with direct verbal and written communication with clients are essential parts of my job both offshore and onshore along with the ability to cope with tight deadlines and short notice callouts.Remit Included:• Chemical management and chemical application for production, water injection and utilities systems• Ensure optimal chemical injection treatment rates are maintained.• Monitor production systems and efficiencies – advise on improvements and remedial action during plant upsets. • Sample analysis of all process systems – techniques including Karl Fischer analysis, BS&W, OIW, ion titration and analysis (iron, chloride, chlorine, oxygen, sulphate), H2S testing on oil, gas and water, microbiology trials for various bacteria, densitometry, gas sampling for GC analysis• Preparation and reporting of results, daily lab reports, chemical control and handovers.• Sampling, analysis and reporting to Fiscal standards• Sampling and analysis of produced water in line with DECC guidance and OPPC compliance• Laboratory management including stock control and equipment calibration• Participate in installation HSE policies and requirements including chemical usage (PON 15D) and behavioural based safety systems (e.g. CARE, STOP, POWER, PSI, BOSS)

Operations Supervisor, South of England region responsible for coordinating the activities of several teams:• Industrial tank and reservoir cleaning and repairs using repair methods such as polyurethane injection, Aqualine and Sika Combiflex• Underwater ROV surveys (VR 600), • Commissioning of chemical dosing systems for large scale water treatment facilities. • Pigging, swabbing and cleaning operations on pipelines up to11Km.• Comply with company and regulatory safety and environmental procedures/regulation• Co-ordinate projects from consultation through to quotation and implementation. Key Achievement: Developed a novel crack injection procedure that has allowed for substantial cost savings and reduced operation time from 3 weeks to 1 week. .

Water treatment Field Service Engineer involved with fault finding, operations, commissioning and maintenance activities at major industrial operations such as Conoco Philips oil refinery, DCL power station, Spondon etc on the following typical systems: • Single and double pass reverse osmosis units• Electrodeionization processes • Filtration operations • Operation of specialised Demineralisation trailers which are based on ion exchange resins including anion, cation and mixed bed resins. • Softeners and all other aspects of industrial water treatment. • Instrumentation included calibrations of inline chlorine probes, redox probes, pH probes, NTU meters, pressure transducers and dulcometers.Key Achievement : investigated and trialled a procedure to reduce the requirement for reverse osmosis membrane cleaning due to biological fouling at a power station. This trial resulted in an increase of process efficiency of approximately 35%, and reduced the requirement of chemical cleaning operations by 75%, thus resulting in substantial cost and time savings along with reduced HSE risks to cleaning teams.
