Graduate Research Assistant
In the Holtz research lab, we investigate semiconductor materials via optical spectroscopy techniques. Specifically, micro-Raman spectroscopy is utilized to accurately probe the temperature rise in heterostructure field effect transistors (HFETs) due to self heating. Visible and UV lasers are used in tandem to probe the heterostructure at different depths. Additionally, we are investigating the use of Raman active nanoparticle dispersions to simultaneously probe the surface and bulk temperatures of these structures. These measurements are juxtaposed with simulation to ensure validity.
Research Assistant
My research in organometallic chemistry was focused on the synthesis of novel N-heterocyclic carbene ligands and the study of their reactivity with transition metals and main group elements. This chemistry was performed using standard air-free chemistry methods such as Schlenk line and glove box techniques. Analysis and characterization of these compounds were performed via nuclear magnetic resonance, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction studies.
