I specialize in connecting with others and utilizing my work ethic and desire to learn more. My interest in environmental energy systems first started during my internship with the Army Corp of Engineers. During that internship, I learned about the importance of working with our environment’s resources in impactful ways. Working with the dredging and land survey, started my interest in how this could help our energy issues in the global world. Over the last few years, I’ve adapted my ability to include networking with people in my major in order to help with problem-solving and acquire solutions needed to fix problems. When someone needed assistance with a solution, I was the first to help them and find additional resources to correct the problem. During my time with the Army Corps of Engineers, I worked as part of a team examining the effects of dredging and land surveys in the development of constructing bridges with contractors. My experience on the dredge McFarland and understanding of how to use a hopper funnel to separate material helped my team with our project solutions. I have also learned from the Pennsylvania Technical Assistance Program for conducting an energy audit for lighting and HVAC for calculating their initial energy consumption and cost, and then applying upgrades to the system to lower the total cost and find the payback period of the project in order to find its payback period. My strength has always been connecting with different groups and blending with them in order to improve our workflow. This skill was imperative in my Energy and Geo-Environmental Engineering research course where communication and the ability to network helped us understand who we could talk to in order to obtain the data needed to aid our group. My goal in life is to increase my skills and knowledge on a subject. This stems from my family who taught me that it is better to keep learning and expand your knowledge due to its many applications. In team projects, I like to use all the knowledge I learned from my classes; from minerals class to understanding the processing techniques to help my productivity. With this, I am able to aid my team find the data needed for any project.
