Senior Principal Engineer assigned to support of LCS Program in support of Combat Systems development, testing and integration oversight. Mr. Terhorst provides Combat Systems technical expertise with emphasis on C5I, magazines, and gun and missile systems including the MK 110 - 57 mm gun system, MK 46 – 30mm gun systems and RAM and SEARAM missile system. Selected as C5I Director for Full Ship Shock Trials (FSST) over both LCS variants. (2008)Senior Principal Engineer assigned to support IWS3C Navy Surface Fire Support ProgramOffice. Mr. Terhorst provides technical support for MK 34 Gun Weapon System (GWS), MK 46 and MK 20 Optical Sighting Systems, and MK 45 Gun Mount. This technical support included issue identification and problem resolution with regard to system interface development, physical and electrical integration, and testing to meet operation requirements of MK 34 Gun Weapon Systems. This effort was performed in concert with Aegis Combat System design teams and Ship design teams to identify and resolve issues regarding mechanical, ship support system, and Combat System interface requirements to facilitate planned MK 34 GWS implementation in DDG 51 and CG Modernization of CG 47 Class Ships. Senior Program Engineer assigned to the NAVSEA 05K Contract, as ProjectManager, in charge of a team of engineers providing technical assistance and program support for NAVSEA 05K, SEA 53, PMS 377, SPAWAR Charleston, SPAWAR 04. NAVSEA program support included upgrades, and new ship designs for CV/CVN, LPD 17, LHD, LHA, LCC, AGF, LSD, MHC 51, DD 963, DDG 993, FFG 7, and AOE ships. His duties, in support of these programs, included the preparation, review, and approval of design documentation. Prepared documentation includes Combat System Space Arrangements, Block Diagrams, Specifications (CSS), Battle Management Organizations, Battle Organization Operator Matrix (BOOM), ORDALTs, ShipAlts, Engineering Change Proposals, and Technical Discrepancy Records. He participated in meetings with shipbuilders, contractors, and government to provide NAVSEA with recommendations for problem resolution, setting of milestones, and funding and scheduling. He participated in the design and development of new documentation and formats for design and upgrade of ships and systems. (1992-2000)

Task Leader/Systems Engineer assigned to the IC/NAV & Switching Systems Group,Combat Support Systems Group. He was responsible for providing technical assistance and program support to NAVSEA. Programs supported include the Nuclear Weapons Security Alarm Systems FZ, 4FZ, and 5FZ, various Interior Communications, Alarm and Indicating System programs, and IC and Fire Control Switchboards. In support of these varied programs, duties included the review and preparation of documentation such as Technical and Certification Manuals, Standard Drawings, Installation Control Drawings (ICDs), Allowance Parts Listings, Ordnance Alterations, ShipAlts, Engineering Change Proposals, and Technical Discrepancy Records. He participated in meetings with shipbuilders, contractors, and NAVSEA representatives. (1990 - 1992)

Fire Controlman First Class (E-6)/MK 86 Work Center Supervisor. Mr. Terhorst graduatedfrom all assigned Navy Technical Schools with top honors and was assigned to the USS MOBILE BAY (CG-53). He was the Senior Technician and Work Center Supervisor in charge of MK 86 Gun Fire Control System and Harpoon Missile System operation and Surface Weapons Supervisor over Gun Weapons Systems, Harpoon MFCS, and Tomahawk MFCS. While serving as MK 86 Work Center Supervisor, USS Mobile Bay won highest score awards for Naval Gun Fire Support during an 18 month competitive cycle. Mr. Terhorst carried consistent 4.0 evaluations, his promotions were made in highest scoring increments, with awards including Navy Achievement Medal for outstanding performance, Letters of Commendation for outstanding performance, and AEGIS platform Surface Warfare Specialist qualification, with Shock Trials and AEGIS pre-commissioning crew experience. 1st graduate of Univ. of Phoenix Navy pilot Assoc. degree program.
