I am a regulatory consultant (Plant Protection Products). I began my scientific career investigating fertility control options for pest possums in New Zealand. I then moved to directly undertaking pest mammal control, including through the use of traps, firearms and restricted vertebrate control agents (toxins) including sodium monofluoroacetate (1080), cyanide and cholecalciferol. I later participated in planning and auditing extensive (~30,000 ha) aerial 1080 possum poison operations, including Whanganui and Taranaki. I subsequently moved to the UK to learn and undertake regulation of pesticides and now as a regulatory consultant I assist clients in getting active substances approved, as well as authorising and defending existing plant protection product uses. I get a great deal of satisfaction from achieving success for my clients and am proud to be part of a highly successful, dynamic and motivated team.
