Brian Ames is an international economics and finance expert with extensive experience in Africa, Asia and in the U.S. Most recently with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington, D.C., he was a senior official who worked over a 25 period specializing in African and Asian countries in macroeconomic policy and development. Countries included Bangladesh, Botswana, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ghana, Kiribati, Madagascar, Nigeria, South Africa, and Tanzania. He was involved in the development of the international architecture for poverty reduction, including the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the design of Poverty Reduction Strategies in low income countries. He also lived for three years in Cameroon where he served as macroeconomic advisor and private sector development officer for USAID/Cameroon. During his tenure at the United Nations (UNCTAD) in Geneva, Switzerland, he was involved in the development of the international approach to trade in international services. Mr. Ames has extensive experience in the private sector, having worked as an economic analyst at Capital Strategic Services, Inc. in Washington, D.C. and later as President of Advanced Scientific Applications, a technology transfer company based in Houston, Texas.
