Throughout my career I have worked various cycles of full-time and freelance contracts working with small and medium businesses to improve how their technology helps their organizations. In the 90's much of my focus was on database reporting, including simple SQL/Access-based models that were early data warehouses. Clients included accounting, manufacturing, healthcare and food service industries. The focus of these contracts were usually around reporting to gather insights from internal company databases.From 2000-2005, my focus shifted heavily to networking, servers and security. I was involved deeply in the early adoption of VOIP technologies, and in helping telecom industry professionals understand the principles of TCP/IP-based networks.From 2005-2012, I focused on virtualization, hosting technologies, and designing/deploying highly scalable and secure environments that could be installed efficiently and inexpensively. This included cisco-centric network engineering for a large software hosting datacenter, and multiple clients in the healthcare and dental space who looked to me and my teams to expand dozens of branch offices across the United States.In 2012, I had the opportunity to build an IT department from the ground up in a small behavior health hospital with big growth goals. I have been building on existing skills to understand and operate as a senior manager within an organization that grew from 125 to 1,500 people in 5 years. Reporting to the CFO, I worked directly with members of the executive team and regional directors across the company to align business and IT goals. It is extremely challenging within the parameters that we operate, and I grow every day as leader, a team member, and an individual.
