During my time with the Sheriff's Office I was assigned to several special assignments. Early on in my career I was assigned to the Juvenile and Administrative Segregation Section. In this assignment, I fine-tuned my skills working with the urban youth, troubled youth, and people impacted by mental diseases and disorders. I was one of the first deputies sent to Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Training where I finished second in the class. Additionally, I was awarded a Letter of Commendation from the Sheriff's Office for intercepting terrorism letters being sent from Marc Ramsay to the presidential candidates of 2008 (John McCain and now President Obama), obtaining a confession from a sexual offender who impregnated his own daughter, and intercepted several letters to Al Qaeda. After this I was assigned to Court Services where I was an essential part of drafting and implementing operational orders for transports and security for Nathan Dunlap, Sir Mario Owens, Robert Ray, Al-Turki and other high profile defendants. During my assignment in Court Services I was awarded another Letter of Commendation for keeping a volatile emotionally and mentally disabled defendant calm during his 2-week high profile trial. I was an instructor with the Sheriff's Office for CPR, Defensive Tactics, Firearms, Inter-Active Use of Force, and was consistently used for driving and scenario training. I became an instructor early on in my deputy career in 2008 and instructed countless hours for both in-service and the academy. Prior to leaving the Sheriff's Office I completely revamped the Video Court Operations. I worked with all of the municipalities and the county to create, draft and implement a completely new innovative Video Court Operation. This project was one of my proudest moments in my occupational sector, as I worked very hard to create the most efficient Video Court Operations, which opened up the ability for more manpower on the streets in other municipalities.
