The Apama division in Progress was acquired by SoftwareAG in 2013. As part of organizational changes during the acquisition, I was promoted to be the Intelligent Business Operations (IBO) Solutions Engineering manager with a team of 6 people.The IBO Solutions team design and maintain various Solution architectures that can be further customized and extended by customers. These solutions include:- Market Surveillance and Monitoring - Foreign Exchange (FX) Aggregation and E-Commerce- Customer Experience Management (CEM)- Predictive Maintenance- Intelligent Retail Information System (IRIS) - Google Glass application for real-time retail marketingI was also the main architect and developer on the Customer Experience Management solution. This utilizes the Apama Complex Event Processing (CEP) engine to strategically manage every interaction a customer has with your company. Supporting intelligent and dynamic segmentation to ensure every customer gets a unique experience. Ensuring delivery of the right information/offers at the right time, to the right person. This uses various inputs to trigger user-engagements, including GPS geo-fencing, iBeacon (BLE) support to generate offers/information via Push Notifications, email, Digital Media Displays, etc.

Progress® Apama® is Capital Markets’ leading platform for building high frequency trading applications. The Apama platform offers flexible and powerful complex event processing (CEP) capabilities and broad market connectivity. Apama also gives customers the tools for creating, testing and deploying unique strategies for low latency, high throughput applications including algorithmic trading, market aggregation, smart order routing, and real-time pricing, market surveillance and monitoring, commodities/energy trading and real-time risk management.As the main architect of the Apama Capital Markets Foundation (CMF) product at Progress® Apama®, the leading platform for building high-frequency trading applications, I played a pivotal role in the architectural design and implementation of various components in the Capital Markets domain. This included the re-architecture of the Market Data architecture to enhance maintainability, usability, and performance (both low-latency and high-throughput). Notable components developed under my direction encompassed the Market Data Aggregator, Synthetic FX CrossRates, Forward-to-Spot Convertor, Position Keeping Service (Open/Closed/Reserved positions), and a Pre-Trade Risk Firewall that drastically improved latency from over 500 milliseconds to under 30 microseconds!

As a contractor at MicroBlade, a high-tech startup based in the USA specializing in small form factor system enclosures and blades based on MicroTCA and AdvancedMC standards, I served as both an embedded Developer and as the Sales and Marketing Leader for Europe. My primary focus was designing and developing the System Management Toolkit in C++, utilizing STL containers for Linux and Windows platforms. This toolkit implemented the Intelligent Platform Messaging interface (IPMI) over RMCP and a sockets interface to the Micro Carrier Hub (MCH). Additionally, I played a crucial role in engaging with customers across Europe, supporting the Sales Director with lead generation, and representing the company at trade shows.

At ARM I was employed as a Principal Software Engineer, and as the Trace and Targets Engineering Manager working on the ARM RealView Debugger application. Specializing in the real-time instruction and data Trace features and support of the Embedded Trace Macrocell (ETM) and Coresight Architecture hardware. At its peak, I managed a team of 12 people.During my time with ARM, I was regarded as a technical "guru" on both the ETM and Coresight architectures both inside and outside of ARM.Also worked directly with numerous ARM customers in both a Technical Support role and in a Technical Marketing role.I attended numerous tradeshow events (including the Embedded Systems Shows) as an exhibitor over the number of years that I was with ARM. This involved liaising with both existing clients and potential clients, demonstrating new features in both hardware and software platforms.

Beacon Computer Technology was a small software consultancy firm based in Cambridge, UK. I was employed as a software engineer to work on various contracts including ones from BT, Hitachi and ARM. The main bulk of my time at Beacon was spent working on the ARM software development toolkit, and subsequently led to me being headhunted by ARM for my services.
