I served as a senior advisor to the Deputy Associate Commissioner for Medicaid and CHIP policy and program, a role that encompasses leading high profile program implementations, interacting with a variety of stakeholders, developing Medicaid policy, legislative analysis, and ongoing management of provider and client issues related to the Medicaid program in Texas. Major projects have included: developing the request for proposals for a major managed care procurement; leading implementation of the STAR Kids managed care program for children and young adults with disabilities; project managing the development of a pediatric assessment tool; developing administrative rules, contract requirements, and, sub-regulatory policy guidance; and serving as subject matter expert on services and supports for children and young adults with disabilities.Additionally, I have represented HHSC as agency representative to the Policy Council for Children and Families (formerly the Children's Policy Council) since 2015, coordinated the STAR Kids Managed Care Advisory Committee from 2015 to 2016, and served as legislative coordinator for the Medicaid and CHIP Services Department for the First Called Session of the 85th Texas Legislature.

Through three positions with increasing scope and responsibility, I conducted policy analysis related to acute care and long term services and supports (LTSS) in the Medicaid and CHIP programs.Major projects included: implementing the Community First Choice (CFC) benefit in for children in traditional Medicaid; designing a pediatric assessment tool for CFC; writing the grant proposal for and serving as project manager for a State Innovation Models (SIM) initiative through the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI); and implementing administrative rules for private duty nursing to fulfill the settlement agreement of a major disability lawsuit.

As state plan coordinator, my role was to coordinate with internal policy and financial subject matter experts to develop and submit amendments to Texas' state Medicaid and CHIP plans, which serve as the state's contracts with the federal government to secure federal matching dollars to operate those programs. In this capacity, I also served as a primary liaison between HHSC and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to help facilitate the state plan amendment process and resolution of various federal policy inquiries.

I provided administrative support to the policy practice group of the Office of General Counsel. My primary job was to track legal issues and requests for document reviews that came through our office and manage our group's tracking database, which I designed. My duties included editing and proofreading of documents and legal research. In the summer of 2010, I worked with our internal health care reform work group and developed a database with which to track our research on the impact of various ACA provisions. Additionally, I served as an agency liaison to the Texas Register and regularly submitted items on behalf of HHSC.

Completed a year of post-graduate research in philosophy at the University of Edinburgh in the UK, culminating in a graduate thesis.

I served as a teaching assistant for an intensive summer Greek language course, which covered the basics of parsing and translating koine Greek. I wrote curriculum for tutorial sessions, taught a daily one hour class, taught a bi-weekly tutorial, held regular office hours, and graded assignments and tests.

As a circulation assistant, I managed the circulation of library materials, maintained library statistics, re-shelved books, processed interlibrary loans, entered data, and interacted with patrons to assist them in their research and book requests.

At the RLNA, I planned and organized a clergy/labor collaboration breakfast, received intensive training in community organizing, and planned Labor in the Pulpits, a program that sends members of the organized labor community to various religious congregations to speak about the connection between faith and labor on Labor Day weekend.
