I have been in the technology industry for my entire career – it is an endlessly fascinating field because it changes rapidly and has the ability to change every industry for the better. Late in 2017, a good friend and long-time colleague of mine were discussing how and where we could apply our expertise to provide a significant impact. This led us to found Sabio Tech Partners, a technology advisory firm focused on the middle market investment community – private equity, investment banking, strategic buyers and companies seeking investment. Large private equity firms tend to either employ specific experts for this purpose or hire well-known firms to assist them in the investment process; middle-market equity firms often do not have the resources to do so – the same is true for established, profitable companies seeking to raise capital. This is the gap we fill.We solve this problem through our innovative process called the Quality-of-Technology, or Q·of·T, that approaches technology as a long-term journey – from pre-close technology diligence through the development of technology strategy, all entirely focused on business strategy and value creation. The primary objective is to ensure that the entire technology ecosystem of any given target acquisition / portfolio company is fully aligned with business goals. Our experience shows that the technology a company uses to run the business and produce its products/services unequivocally impacts investment valuation.
