I have been in the technology industry for my entire career – it is an endlessly fascinating field because it changes rapidly and has the ability to change every industry for the better. Late in 2017, a good friend and long-time colleague of mine were discussing how and where we could apply our expertise to provide a significant impact. This led us to found Sabio Tech Partners, a technology advisory firm focused on the middle market investment community – private equity, investment banking, strategic buyers and companies seeking investment. Large private equity firms tend to either employ specific experts for this purpose or hire well-known firms to assist them in the investment process; middle-market equity firms often do not have the resources to do so – the same is true for established, profitable companies seeking to raise capital. This is the gap we fill.We solve this problem through our innovative process called the Quality-of-Technology, or Q·of·T, that approaches technology as a long-term journey – from pre-close technology diligence through the development of technology strategy, all entirely focused on business strategy and value creation. The primary objective is to ensure that the entire technology ecosystem of any given target acquisition / portfolio company is fully aligned with business goals. Our experience shows that the technology a company uses to run the business and produce its products/services unequivocally impacts investment valuation. In short, technology matters when buying or selling a business.

Independent Management ConsultantBrian Beck Consulting Oct 2015 - Dec 2017Austin, TexasAs an independent consultant, I help my clients execute strategic initiatives and solve critical business problems through both advisory and hands-on execution. Success in business tends to boil down to the right combination of people, process and technology. As straightforward as this sounds, all business leaders know how challenging it is to find and maintain the right mix to achieve their strategic goals. In all the services I offer, my approach focuses on the level, composition and alignment of these three pillars in pursuit of my clients’ business objectives (short-term, long-term or both). The conclusion of my work always produces tangible, actionable results - reports and deliverables that can actually be used. I have also filled key executive roles, such as CIO, on an interim basis - responsible for both day to day operations and for finding an individual to fill the role on a permanent basis. My clients often tell me that I am a very effective communicator and excel in the ability to convey complex subjects and principles in a straightforward manner that doesn’t rely heavily on “buzzwords”. They also appreciate that I tell them what they need to hear, not what they want to hear, in direct, though respectful, manner.
