Staff Sergeant/ Duty Manager - Frontline Operations - Community Safety UnitToronto Community Housing Dec 2023 - Nov 2024Toronto, Ontario, CanadaCity of Toronto, as the 4th largest city in North America, presents unique challenges and opportunities, especially in the realm of public safety. Toronto Community Housing, recognized as the 2nd largest social housing provider globally, is home to over 164,000 tenants across 2,240+ communities. Within this vast and diverse landscape, the Community Safety Unit stands as the largest front-facing Special Constable Agency in Canada - a testament to its dedication and scale. With delegated responsible charge of a $42,000,000 operating budget, I am privileged to sit at the helm of frontline operations and work with a large team of uniformed peace officers who serve city-wide, supported by a team of dedicated sergeants/ field supervisors, parking enforcement officers, a full dispatch/ call center team, and varying support staff. Our mission is clear: to protect and serve every corner of our Toronto Community Housing communities, ensuring that every resident feels safe and valued in their community. With three centrifugal reporting locations spread across the city, our operations are extensive, and the responsibility is immense. But it’s a responsibility that I don’t take lightly. Every day, we strive to be more than just a presence - we aim to be a force for positive change, a source of security, and a partner in building stronger, safer communities. Each day, I’m reminded that leadership is not about holding a position; it’s about embracing the challenges and responsibilities that come with it. It’s about making a tangible difference in the lives of those we serve, and those I have the privilege to work for, and that’s a responsibility I am honored to carry. -
