Representative Projects:• Folsom Dam Joint Federal Project, USACE Sacramento District, Folsom, CA: Saved hundreds of man hours by implementing an automated system to run thousands of reservoir operations simulations, perform complex statistical analysis of, and report on the results. Languages/applications used: Java SE, Python, JFReeChart framework, Eclipse.• Development of water supply accounting application, US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Little Rock District: Upgraded a difficult to use and inflexible FORTRAN application by developing a Java SE desktop application for tracking, managing, and reporting water supply information for the district’s reservoirs. Languages/applications used: Java SE, JasperReports, HEC-DSS database libraries and Eclipse.• Conversion of Hydrologic Engineering Center’s (HEC) HMR52 software from FORTRAN to Java: Converted HEC’s HMR52 source code to Java from FORTRAN and developed an application programming interface. Validated the converted code in order to facilitate the integration of HMR52’s probable maximum precipitation storm analysis capabilities into HEC-HMS software. Design, develop, deploy, and maintain client/server and web based applications as well as Oracle applications, primarily using Java. Design, implement, and maintain relational database solutions using Oracle software and PL/SQL. Representative projects:• Economic database web service: Developed a web service application that allows query of the economic database (called the Structure Inventory Query) developed by Ford Engineers for the Central Valley Flood Protection Plan (CVFPP). The simple object access protocol (SOAP) Web service allows the database to communicate with different programs over HTTP. Languages/applications used: Java EE 6, JAX-WS, JPA (Hibernate), GlassFish 3.1, Eclipse.• Northern Sierra and Southern Sierra precipitation 8-station index charts: Developed a web application that allows users to access the latest available data from CDEC, choose water years and graph and compare plots for the 8-station precipitation. The resulting display is a percent average for the dates of the chosen water years. Languages/applications used: Java SE, Apache Struts, JFreechart, Eclipse.• Drought status products: Developed a web application that automates creation and dynamically displays three drought status products distributed in PDF format. The three products are created and updated by NOAA. Languages/applications used: Java SE, Apache Struts, JFreechart, Eclipse. • PRMS input creator: Developed a desktop application that automates the creation of input files for the Precipitation-Runoff Modeling System (PRMS) software used by the California Cooperative Snow Survey team for the Feather River runoff forecasting model. The application interacts with the DRAPER application written in FORTRAN to produce PRMS input files using the latest available data from CDEC. Languages/applications used: Java SE, Eclipse.

Representative projects:• Planned, led, and implemented a complete overhaul of the company billing system, transitioning from an outdated Access based system to a web enabled FreeBSD/MySQL based solution, saving $20,000 in licensing costs. • System deployment, maintenance, and backup: including Linux and Windows based servers and workstations.• Configure, deploy, and maintain routers from numerous vendors including Cisco, Netopia, and Linksys. Configure, deploy, and maintain WAN wireless networking solutions using Motorola and Alvarion 900 MHz and 2.4 GHz equipment.
