The specific purposes for which the corporation is organized are (1) to conduct scientific research relating to peace officers' occupational problems effecting performance and relating to criminal law and procedure; (2) to offer educational programs to peace officers and the general public pertaining to current law enforcement issues and problems and to educate peace officers and police administrators to perform their duties with increased understanding and ability in order to better serve the public interest; (3) to provide scholarships to support training and education of peace officers and their families ; (4) to publish and distribute a research and training newsletter containing scientific and educational information aimed at improving the individual capabilities of peace officers, police administrators and educators; (5) to assist and educate the general public in crime prevention and personal protection; (6) to provide financial assistance to law enforcement personnel and/or their family members, or survivors, if an individual involved in law enforcement is killed, wounded or otherwise disabled or impaired, or under other circumstances that warrant such relief; and (7) to administer such other charitable programs that may be necessary to assist law enforcement personnel in times of financial need, including providing donations to other charitable organizations that are recognized 501(c) (3) organizations under the Internal Revenue Code.
