My primary role was analyzing ridership from past special events in order to develop a repeatable workflow for post event analysis and to produce visuals for presentation to other departments for future special event planning. This included the use of Excel, SQL, and Power BI. I also participated in field ridership checks and data collection.

My initial summer project was to use ArcGIS Pro to analyze the impacts of CTA and Metra lines on property values in the station areas. This project was initially focused on the Orange Line corridor, but was later expanded to the entire service area. This research was primarily intended to predict the impacts the Red Line Extension will have on the surrounding neighborhoods.Another significant project during this internship was to study the access to grocery stores on the Far South Side of Chicago using public transit. This included altering the GTFS data and modeling the travel times of potential service extensions using GIS, as well as estimating the operational costs of the service changes.Additionally, I reviewed and checked consultant deliverables and calculations relating to demographics in the Red Line Extension project area. I have also worked on various other tasks within the Planning department, such as performing rail ridership checks for Service Planning, reading through and practicing the scheduling topics covered in the TCRP manuals, and reviewing potential updates to the STOPS travel demand model.

This included creating formal reports, tracking the testing process, and participating in field inspections. I also assisted with various other projects within the Engineering department, such as performing defect inspections.
