Profile bio

About Brianna A.

One of my earliest memories is saying "hi" and talking to strangers loading their cars with groceries, as my parents carried me out of the grocery store when I was a small child. My parents would laugh and let me talk if the other person wanted to engage. That small bit of engagement with folks outside of my nuclear family was just the beginning for me of a life of forging connections with people far and wide. This has benefitted me greatly both personally and professionally. I love connecting with people from different spaces and cultures than my own, and finding common ground, creating the basis of a healthy and mutually beneficial relationship.Coming from an Arts background with most of the credits for art teaching checked off (The Uni discontinued the minor program before I could complete all of the required teaching courses,) I had always thought that I needed to have art and/or training as the central focus of my career, for going to college to have been "worth it." Anything else, be it food and beverage, recruiting, or administrative assistance felt like it had to simply be a stopping place on my way to an amazing art career. Over the past handful of years, I've grown to realize that the worth of the degree is indeed found in art; however, it's the art of human connection that I've been building upon since those early days outside of the grocery store. The beauty of human connection is what wakes me up in the morning and keeps me going from day to day.

Director Of Contracting & Agency Operations

Family First Life Sub-Agencies

United States

Over the past four and a half years, I have developed a wide range of skills in this position that have allowed me to become an excellent virtual manager. This role has allowed me to flourish and grow in ways I had never thought possible. I was initially hired into a recruiting role, and as I was able to prove myself and my work ethic, my plate of responsibilities grew. After about six months, my role shifted from solely recruiting to a Senior Executive Assistant role. My position title was "Director of Contracting & Agency Operations," meaning that I was now in charge of every administrative role in the agency. It was at this point that I truly began to thrive. I find a lot of meaning in being able to be a go-to source for accurate information and assistance. Finally, in working with a team that was spread out across the entire US, I am well acquainted with scheduling meetings and working across time zones.

Recruiting Coordinator

Rhino Financial Group

Greenville, South Carolina, United States

Jun 2019 - Oct 2022

Shift Supervisor

Anderson, South Carolina, United States

To be entirely transparent, this role mostly taught me what I did not want in a job, and showed me that people will treat you however you allow them to. I watched my supervisors effectively break associates down, which unintentionally taught me how treating people with respect and compassion is the most effective way to manage and retain high morale. In terms of more tangible skills, I learned quite a lot about managing groups of people and running a whole store efficiently. I became ServeSafe Certified while in this role, thereby increasing my knowledge of food safety and management. Customer relations can be somewhat of a warzone at times, and utilizing great customer service skills allowed me to navigate those situations as they arose.

Sales Manager & Key Holder

Coastal Retailers Llc, Dba Carolina Hat Company & Best Gift Idea Ever

North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, United States

This was a partially commission-based position that relied heavily on quality sales and highly engaged customer service. Managing inventory levels and storage location was critical to this work, allowing me to quickly locate what each customer desired. Praised by upper management for the ability to retain product knowledge and effectively deliver information, resulting in a strong uptick in sales. Overhauled inventory in the back room, improving efficiency and accuracy of customer service. I was able to further developed my sales pitch in this position, as well as learn how to manage POS systems and improve SEO. I consistently collaborated with the General Manager on projects, both in-store and online. This taught me how healthy work relationships can positively affect production and work life in general.

Mar 2017 - Jun 2018

Ticket & Retail Associate, Host

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, United States

In my time working for House of Blues, I worked in multiple departments and acquired many new skills. I learned to upsell from the host stand, and as a result, was hired in the retail store. Here, I was taught to run inventory, and how to complete reports. I also managed event ticket pickup. From here, I was hired in the box office to sell concert and event tickets. I was challenged by ‘secret shoppers’ who routinely checked in. This led to a true development in my thinking process regarding consistency in customer service. The Retail store had one employee per shift. With no Retail Manager on duty, problem-solving and self-sufficiency were of the utmost importance. In a time where my Box Office Manager did not have a Supervisor, I used time between sales to assist her with any work I could and was entrusted with many projects which helped me to become even more detail oriented.
