I am 34 years old with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and a minor in Creative Writing from The University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. I have been a reporter at the Courier Express/Tri-County Weekend newspaper for six years. I have extended experience in writing articles according to AP style, copy editing, interviewing, photography, time management and organization, working on a deadline, and managing social media accounts and website updates.I particularly excel when I'm writing feel-good feature stories, such as spotlights on local people doing great things in the community; fundraisers happening for a good cause; new businesses openings or longtime business features; animal rescue stories with happy endings, etc. Negative news is easy enough to find and see everywhere, so when I can, I try to highlight the happy things.I also write crime and other news-related stories on a daily basis, as well as manage social media accounts and monitor the website for any mistakes. I founded and organize our "Furever Homes: Pets of the Week" page, featuring adoptable animals from rescues in the Tri-County area, which is published each Friday.I was the recipient in 2019, 2023 and 2024 for "Best Local Newspaper Reporter" in the Tri-County Readers Choice Awards.I am always keeping my eyes and ears open for new career opportunities.
