In my course of Interior Design Programming in fall 2010, she was a great leader to take care of every team member in the team projects, really dynamic participant in the class discussions, and very sincere student to listen to every lecture. In the course, I assigned two big projects. One of them was a team project assigned to four team members who had different design interests. As the team leader she excellently handled every decision making process and integrated each team member’s work. Thanks to her great effort, her team had a great final programming project which renovated an old building in Old Town Lansing, MI. The project size was about 10,000 square feet including both 1st and 2nd floors. While taking my IDES 440 and IDES 458 courses, Brianne showed in-depth understanding in green building principles and practices. In the IDES 440 Contemporary Design Issues class, Brianne researched green interior design trends presented in the 2011 World Expo in Shanghai, China and made a wonderful presentationss. In the IDES 458 Housing from a Human Ecological Perspective (subtitle: Green Buildings and Housing) class, Brianne mastered fundamentals of green buildings and core concepts related to green design practices. This course covers all topics related to green buildings such as sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, indoor environmental quality, materials and resources, innovation in design, and regional priority. She also proposed a design plan for an abandoned school building to rehabilitate it to a LEED-certified condominium. In addition to her understanding in theories and principles, Brianne has excellent verbal and written communication skills. Her visual communication skills in AutoCAD, Revit, and Photoshop are excellent.
