Maybe it only takes a marriage and two young children to truly understand the importance of working steadily toward a secure future. Or at least that’s how recent life events have resonated with me—though I’ve worked in the financial industry for years.I started my career in the trading pits of the Windy City, buying and selling securities at the Chicago Board of Options Exchange and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. That was after earning a B.A in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.Today, it’s my full-time job to seek out, carefully analyze, and recommend safe investments for individual clients. Some of them have come to us with portfolios that were high-risk disasters waiting to happen and I’ve helped transition them into growth-oriented but more secure positions. That’s what gratifies me most—the ability to help strengthen portfolios and lend clients a heightened sense of security and confidence in comfortable retirements.I do it by paying attention to detail, avoiding unnecessary risk, and diving deep into company books, paying special attention to price and earnings. When I’m not deep-diving into financial analytics, I love to travel with my wife. We’ve been to Spain, Italy, Ireland, France, Thailand, and the United Kingdom, to name just a few destinations. And yes, we took the baby on that last overseas trip—only a few months old at the time and already a wonderful traveler.I’ve also contributed to such worthy causes as the Houston Food Bank and with charities associated with Hurricane Harvey.
