I have concentrated my practice in the representation of school districts and other units of local government since 2007. My practice includes issues of board governance, business operations, the administration and negotiation of collective bargaining agreements, the resolution of grievances and unfair labor practice charges, contract negotiation and review, public bidding, requests for proposals, personnel and employment issues including the dismissal of tenured teachers, student discipline and special education matters including inquiries by the U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights (OCR), the purchase and sale of land, the bidding, preparation, and administration of architect and construction contracts, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, Open Meetings Act issues, requests for review by the Attorney General’s Public Access Bureau, purchasing agreements, employment contracts, intergovernmental cooperation agreements, boundary detachment and annexation petitions, civil litigation, administrative review, and appeals. In 2017, I was first appointed to serve on the Education Law Section Council of the Illinois State Bar Association. From 2017 through 2019, I was named to the list of “Emerging Lawyers” by Law Bulletin Media. Since 2020, I have been named a “Leading Lawyer” in Illinois in the areas of School Law; Governmental, Municipal, Lobbying & Administrative Law; Land Use, Zoning & Condemnation Law; and Real Estate Law: Tax.
