„What does it profit you, if you master the many dimensions of AI , but lose your immortal soul in the process?“ „Don’t clickbait me!“ you cry.Not so fast.The hopelessly porn addicted laughed when warned about their first lustathon.The compulsive swiper – left,right, all day, all night – tittered „I’ll never be a moth before the flame!“The follower howled „I'd never clutch my phone nightly in bed, punching its buttons like a drunk monkey in the dawn!“But how many in your circle match this description?Maybe you are one of them?You don’t need to live like this.And you certainly don’t need to end your life enslaved to a flickering screen, sacrificing irreplaceable time to it, your soul hollowed out, as you flail before forces you little understand.Among the fear fixers, doom addicts, online narcissists, and the million iterations of souls literally lost in the ether, how many thought they could escape a life in chains?Ask yourself: are you so in thrall to electronic digits that you need your dopamine labyrinth?And now AI has arrived. It is already changing your world. You now must question if even what you are hearing and seeing is indeed real.Your very voice and movement can be imitated so accurately, even your mother would not know the difference. On top of this ...millions of people are losing jobs, entire sectors are shrinking radically and set for extinction.The social, emotional, and economic parameters that have sheltered us are now shuddering. Many remain unaware of the tectonic shifts afoot.These movements are disorienting and disruptive.They are also liberating and rich with opportunity. And freedom.Let's build on the latter. After all, we many not be able to go back and change the beginning, but we can start where we are and change the ending.Interested? AI has the power to liberate or enslave - the choice is up to each of us in our own lives and in the communities we are called to shape. To ensure I don't lose my footing in the land, or with nature, as I claim AI's promise, I'm staying close to the Earth. Here's my plan for remaining sane as AI goes full throttle:I'm sowing and harvesting a dry farming crop. Organic oats in a climate that can be harsh and arid in a terrain that is steep and challenging. Why? "This makes you dependent on rainfall after all! Why not irrigate?" you say. "Aren't we dependent enough on the grace of God for our blessings?" Call it an act of love. And of faith. Faith in God's love. For His creation. For His creators. Creating is an amazing attribute we share with our Maker. As the AI Revolution moves forward we will need mountains of love. Faith. And hope. Hope that we can rise to the challenges roaring down on us. That's what I'm teaching, learning, sharing and providing: How to balance hyper-modernity with nourishment for the soul. And then to spread that transforming balance as far as I possibly can. I want to move from fear to love. From anger to faith. From doubt to hope. Faith, hope and love. AI, God and dry farming. I learned much about all three from the dry farming Hopis on Arizona's Third Mesa as a teen. And later from the hard scrabble Hindu farmers on the climb to Nepal's Thorong La Pass in Nepal at over 5.400 meters (17,769 feet). They were among the first men to teach me to dig in the dirt with raw hands to test the dry soil. And then to raise those hands to heaven in thanksgiving for the earth that feeds us.And to pray for God's blessings for the work ahead. AI is the alien soil we are now testing.I'm asking for God's help as I explore this alien terrain. I hope you'll join me for the journey. I promise to do all I can to make it worth all of our while.
