Subject Matter Expert in Aerospace Corporation's Weather Remote Sensing Systems Office (WRSSO) supporting Department of Defense (DOD) and Civil customers (NOAA/NASA) in all phases of Space Based Environmental Monitoring Program planning and execution. Areas of focus include Program planning and development, technology maturation, sensor performance, sensor anomaly resolution, requirements definition, data assessment, numerical weather modeling, environmental data product retrievals and algorithms, and sensor data exploitation. Responsible for the safety of the command’s military and civilian personnel and the systems they acquire, operate, maintain and support in space and on the ground. Managed Occupational Safety, Weapons Safety, Flight Safety, and Space Safety divisions. Ensured compliance with OSHA standards and federal regulations across 29 distinct geographical locations. Vice Chair of the USAF's Space Safety Council and charter member of the USAF Senior Safety Advisory Council.

Directed coordination with the host nation to ensure continuity of combat operations, including the forward posturing of U.S. Special Operations Command resources and the activation of developmental counter-small Unmanned Aerial System capabilities in order to protect fielded resources across the installation.

Developed and executed $150K annual operations budget and managed every aspect of administration. Ensured IT division provided 24/7 operational support and uninterrupted communications with customers at 132 DoD sites.

Chief Operations Officer of 200-person organization advising decision-makers on disaster preparation and mitigation of environmental impacts to $200 Billion in assets and 300K personnel across 24 states. Directed 24/7 Operations Center providing decision-grade environmental intelligence across all echelons of military planning and execution. Oversaw complete overhaul of IT infrastructure, including a relocation of primary operations center without interruption to supported clientele. Managed changes to production cycle which led to highest efficiency in unit history, resulting in recognition as Air Force’s Operational Weather Squadron of the Year.

Studied National Strategy as it pertains to military operations and political-military relations. Authored a paper examining the National Security implications of a catastrophic space weather event, garnering the award for the top paper in Joint Military Operations in 2010.

Led, trained and equipped 32-person organization focused on tactical support to the 101st Airborne Division. Procured facilities for newly activated organization, including an administrative headquarters, a weapons vault, and a combat equipment warehouse. Managed $150K annual operations budget and maintained $5M in tactical equipment. Sustained 24/7 support to one of the Nation’s largest military airfields, including routine product sets for two Combat Aviation Brigades and the U.S. Army’s Special Operations Aviation Regiment. Organization was awarded Air Combat Command’s 2008 Outstanding Small Weather Unit of the Year. Recognized as the 2008 Air Force Weather Field Grade Officer of the Year.

Directed environmental support to the Multi-National Corps in Iraq. Coordinated theater sensing strategy and deployed array of tactical sensors across the country in order to ensure situational awareness for the combatant command. Ensured interoperability of IT backbone across multiple services and international coalition partners. Provided logistical support to 65 personnel at 13 forward-operating locations.

Developed lesson plans, taught, and assessed three undergraduate courses in physics and meteorology at one of the Nation’s premier academic institutions. Advised 14 undergraduate students within the meteorology major and served as an associate academic advisor to a 120-member cadet squadron. Won McGrath award for top junior physics faculty member in 2006. Commanded the Base Honor Guard, providing military honors for 60 funerals.

Led four-person team in DoD Space Based Environmental Monitoring collection requirements in order to maximize combat effectiveness. Advised Defense Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP) Constellation Sustainment and Assessment Team, ensuring program maintained operational performance metrics in support of two major combat theaters while simultaneously serving the Intelligence Community. Implemented technical solution to deliver satellite imagery in near real-time to the United Kingdom to facilitate coalition operations. Developed rapid prototype to exploit new dataset for combat utility, garnering a NASA Group Achievement Award for transitioning research data to operations. Represented Air Force user requirements and assessed sensor technical feasibility during the National Polar Orbiting Environmental Satellite System (NPOESS) acquisition process.

Studied advanced concepts in environmental remote sensing. Served as primary researcher on the Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (UW-CIMSS) Tropical Cyclone team. Generated operational algorithms to estimate tropical cyclone intensity utilizing passive microwave sounders, resulting in full implementation at NOAA’s National Hurricane Center in 2001. Presented research results at two American Meteorological Society conferences.

Advised senior leadership at 17 installations throughout the Central Pacific on environmental impacts to operations and resources. Authored disaster mitigation and recovery plans as well as annexes to combat plans. Managed and prepared a suite of tactical weather sensors, including a deployable meteorological satellite receiver, wind/temperature measurement set, and a laser ceilometer.

Studied undergraduate meteorology and engineering, resulting in the Distinguished Graduate award and recognition as the Outstanding Cadet in the Social Sciences Division. Occupied numerous leadership positions at the squadron, group, and wing levels. Utilized Spanish minor in an exchange to the Bolivian Air Force Academy and a six-week internship on the Inter-American Defense Board in Washington, D.C.

Wrote and maintained Common Business Oriented Language software for Air Force’s logistic supply chain. Worked with supply systems analysts to collect user requirements from the global enterprise and modified existing software to meet emerging specifications.
