I love my work as a Landscape Architect and Urban Designer and I take my role as a change influencer very seriously. My passion is to lead the evolution of cities (and their residents) to adapt and thrive in an evolving and complex world. I combine ergonomics, art, psychology, environmental science and social justice in my design approaches to provide spaces that enhance the liveability of cities and improve the physical and mental well-being of the community. I am proud of my profession and the work I do. I drive change and improvements that meet both regional and local needs. I am a facilitator of city-shaping projects including transformational infrastructural projects with particular experience in rail transport; regional scale urban design strategies, climate change adaptation projects, land remediation projects and multi-scale public realm projects. My approach is to strike the right balance between process-driven decision-making and supporting innovation and big ideas to drive successful outcomes. I am highly organised, and agile and my skill set is adaptive. As an expert problem solver, my strengths lie in strategic development initiatives, project management coordination and stakeholder workshop advice. I have found my calling working in the public sector where I can directly connect with my community and respond with high-quality and well-considered designs and built-form outcomes. I provide spaces that support community sustainability by supporting and encouraging residents to live, participate and shop locally, and to walk and cycle through safe and accessible path networks and streets. I enhance social participation and connection through providing spaces to entertain, interact and connect with neighbours, strangers and friends. I create cool and green environments that deliver climate change resilience through urban forest restoration, blue and green infrastructure. I curate and foster a sense of local identity in design responses, which influences a resident’s self-identification and enhances a feeling of connection and belonging to a place. I provide facilities that promote health and well-being through being outdoors and providing activities for people of all ages, genders, cultures and abilities. As a leader, my focus is to advocate for change to facilitate necessary societal and environmental adaptation. I am an active member of the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA) and I participate in the AILA Practice Committee.
