Responsibilities and notable tasks include:• Enzyme/protein discovery, identification and characterization encompassing both upstream and downstream techniques• Upstream skills: isolation of DNA of interest, amplification, manipulation and subsequent protein expression in various prokaryotic and eukaryotic systems including strain selection, media development screens for optimization of solubility and yield • Downstream skills: Creation and design of standard techniques for the isolation of protein of interest using various strategies not limited to recovery using cell lysis, chromatography (anion, affinity, size exclusion etc) and protein concentration• Generation and optimization of upstream and downstream processes for transfer of technology from small scale to production scale using lean principles• Isolation and refolding of troublesome insoluble proteins • Downstream biochemical characterization assays enabling in depth biochemical characterization and stability profiling of enzymatic targets using spectrophotometric and other techniques• Improvement of biochemical characteristics of proteins (stability/activity) through protein engineering• Analytical assay creation, design and development for creation of new enzymatic test kits • Metagenomic/cDNA/Genomic library creation and screening for functional novel proteins• Identification and characterization of new product targets (enzymatic and other) to widen the company product portfolio in carbohydrate research and related fields• Extensive team lead experience which includes provision of direction to team members (management of staff, resources and projects) technical advice, review of experimental plans, results, and reports • Quality Control (QC) assay completion with extensive subsequent experience in authorization of QC results and SOPs• Project management

• Laboratory management and operation• Project planning, management and supervision of undergraduate laboratory and literature projects• Lecturer of undergraduate degree courses in Genomics, Embryology, Nematode Molecular Genetics, and Evolutionary Biology• Setting and correcting of undergraduate examinations• Research: Construction of normalized transcriptome library.
