USHINE is a project dedicated to increase understanding of sexual networks among men who have sex with men (MSM) in the Baltimore community and determining what puts individuals at risk of STIs. The study is also being conducted in Columbus, Ohio and Chicago, Illinois.

As a resident assistant at Johns Hopkins' Center for Talented Youth, my responsibilities played a key role in ensuring that the attending students had the most fulfilling educational and social experience possible. Responsibilities included: advocating for all residential needs, being present in the dormitories when the students were sleeping, communicating varying schedules of the program, organizing activities for the students to participate in during their recreational time, supervising free time outside of the classroom, communicating with instructors on the students' behaviors both in and out of the classroom, and creating a positive, high-energy environment for the students to explore academic and personal interests.

Working under the direction of Dr. David J. Schretlen and supervision of Jeffery Crawford in the Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Department, responsibilities include: scoring cognitive testing forms, inputting data, and organizing databases.

My responsibilities are to greet and monitor incoming/outgoing students in a resident hall by swiping their identification cards into the university’s computer system to ensure a safe living environment.

Working under the instruction and development of Dr. William Pelham, Jr., and more directly with Dr. Paulo Graziano and Dr. Katie Hart, I fulfilled the role of counselor to implement the evidence-based intensive summer treatment program for children on the verge of entering kindergarten who face obstacles posed by Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (AD/HD), as well as comorbid disorders such as Oppositional Defiant Disorder and Conduct Disorder. Strategies implemented include: Child-Directed Interaction (CDI), positive social reinforcement, and a hierarchal reward system. Through 10 daily hours over the course of 10 weeks, the program focuses on preparing children socially, academically, and emotionally for the next milestone in their educational career, as well as providing a basis to be successful throughout life.This invaluable experience exposed me to clinical treatment and data entry & analysis, which increased my interest in pursuing clinical work in the future.

I processed money and printed cinema tickets, assisted guests in selecting reserved seating, greeted guests and helped them find their seats in the theater, and handed out and sanitized menus.

As an associate, my responsibilities were to reconnect with alumni of the university to inform them on current campus events and solicit donations for the Annual Giving Fund, contact parents of current students to educate them on the value of their donations towards improving the campus for their children and generations to come, and to call alumni of the original Loyola College and alumnae of Mount St. Agnes College to encourage them to keep the legacy of their alma mater alive by donating towards scholarships and memorial events.

I assisted customers with their purchases, answered customer inquiries over the phone, processed money, discounts, and coupons at the cash register, worked cooperatively with a large team of co-workers and gained experience in workplace cohesion.
