Outside of the classroom I aided in the design and implementation of teacher trainings with Ministry of Education Inspectors for 65 of the region’s teachers, with the objectives of increasing the use of English as the medium of instruction, alternatives to corporal.

I aided in the mark and recapture of killifish as part of a larger project analyzing the evolution and co-evolution of killifish and guppies. In my free time I designed and implemented a project researching competitive size asymmetry in killifish and discovered a positive correlation between size and competitive ability.

I conducted spawning ground and carcass surveys, identified and counted redd density, collected scales and DNA samples, and dissected coded wire tags. All the data I collected contributed to the estimates of magnitude and composition of the fall and spring Chinook salmon runs.
