Responsible for teaching Survey of General Chemistry, General Chemistry and corresponding laboratories.

• Worked on the drug team of the FDA’s FCC laboratory and was responsible for independent forensic problem solving with the goal of protecting the public health.. Conducted case work investigations for suspected counterfit, tampered, and illegal drugs. Applied appropriate methods of analysis (USP, FCC’s SOPs), as well as developed new methods when appropriate for analyzing bulk API and finished dosage form pharmaceuticals, dietary supplements and unapproved and illegal drugs. Work performed enhanced the capability of the laboratory to rapidly and effectively meet FDA's analytical needs in support of criminal and regulatory enforcement actions. • Develop appropriate separations and mass spectrometric methods (HPLC, GC-MS, LC-MS, MS/MS ion traps), as well as trained to conduct on-site sample collection of tampered, counterfit, and/or illegal drugs. Prepare and review analytical worksheets and reports that are suitable for submission as court evidence.• Completed FDA Food and Drug Law, Evidence Development, and FCC Laboratory Training

• Responsible for teaching Analytical Chemistry, Instrumental Analysis, Environmental Chemistry, General Chemistry and corresponding laboratories.• Conducted research in the area of electro/optical sensors, electrochemistry, and spectroscopy. Trained and advised undergraduate research students (all grant supported).• As the only analytical chemist in the department, I was responsible for the set-up and maintenance of departmental instrumentation (atomic, molecular, mass spectrometers, liquid/gas chromatographs, and electroanalytical instrumentation). • Active science advocate through research presentations to experts in the field, education of science and nonscience majors, and serving on a government relations committee of a local ACS section.

• Recipient of a two-year postdoctoral fellowship administered by the National Research Council and conducted at the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Research in the area of electro/optical sensors for bioanalytical and environmental applications.• Developed unique light coupling fabrication technique for planar waveguides resulting in one publication and two patents.
