Brit Johnston is an Anishinaabe-Italian theatre artist and creative producer passionate about storytelling that sparks dialogue and fosters connection. With a versatile background in directing, stage management, and performing, Brit enjoys experimenting with theatrical styles to create bold, honest, and heartfelt narratives. As a creative producer, she skillfully bridges the gap between artistic vision and practical execution to create accessible, engaging, and memorable experiences for audiences, artists, and community.Brit studied theatre and arts management at the University of Ottawa, leading her to specialize in event production, artist/client liaison, and community engagement best practices. She is currently the Associate Producer for Indigenous Theatre at the National Arts Center in Ottawa, ON and serves as the Chair of the Board of Directors for the Quinte Arts Council in Belleville, ON. Brit was raised on her maternal grandmother’s ancestral territory, Genabaajing Anishinaabek/Serpent River First Nation in Northern Ontario. She now resides between Ottawa and Belleville, ON.
