Britta was the lead chair of the Housing Team and Expungers Team of the ERO office under the R3 Grant. R3 Community Lawyers focus on partnerships by regularly participating in community outreach and education while litigating cases that would impact the community as a whole. Britta started and taught the Criminal Records Relief Externship Project, which accepted up to 10 students per semester to organize large-scale expungement/ sealing summits while teaching students about various aspects of poverty law.

Focused on misdemeanor criminal defense, which included representation in arraignment court, plea negotiations, pre-trial hearings, jury trials, and sentencing hearings. Gained an in-depth understanding of the intersection between civil poverty law and the criminal justice system. Practiced within a small setting of approximately 10 attorneys.

Practiced civil litigation in the 9th, 10th, and 11th Judicial Circuits of Illinois, as well as the United States Central District of Illinois (in Peoria). Additionally, served as co-chairperson of Prairie State's Housing Law Task Force (HLTF). As a HLTF chairperson, was responsible for being the point person on substantive legal issues, monitoring emerging legal problems, and developing responses and strategies for the firm.

Managed a team of four to conduct and transcribe interviews with seven UIUC faculty and staff. Analyzed and interpreted the data collected into a final report about the various barriers minority students face when deciding to study abroad and ways the university has failed to address those issues
