• Received a PhD from a lab focused on human perception with a concentration in somatosensation and food texture• Developed and improved a series of psychophysical stimuli and tasks to test specific, somatosensory percepts in the dermis and oral cavity. • Characterized perception mechanisms for a variety of tactile percepts and the effects of individual variation on this perception. • Performed a variety of sensory and consumer tests for commercial and academic research applications• Implemented technology from across clinical and research disciplines in novel ways to characterize tissue anatomy.

Served as a founding coordinator and worked with the Food Science Undergraduate Research Experience (FoodS.U.R.E.) Committee to design and implement a first-of-its-kind research education program to lower the boundary to entry to undergraduate research.• Served as a student mentor and liaison between students and potential faculty research advisors. • Grew and sustained involvement in undergraduate research to ≈1/6 of Food Science and Technology students (from 3%).• Designed and led seminar on the ethics of undergraduate mentorship.• Developed student-focused modules and seminars aimed at educating undergraduate students on skills not traditionally taught in lab classes or the research lab (i.e. critical literature review, proposal writing, poster design, etc.).

Worked as a member of the Foegeding lab at North Carolina State University to develop and standardize a model gel system to closely mimic the rheological properties of fresh fruits.
