Leadership Development Institute InternHope Community Church Aug 2011 - May 2012MinneapolisDuring the 2011-2012 school year I participated in the Leadership Development Institute through Hope Community Church. LDI is an internship that allows for growth in three main areas: Christ-Like Character, Biblical Knowledge, and Ministry Experience. My focus in ministry experience was mainly in Women's Ministries with a special concentration in Counseling Ministries. In addition I, along with a fellow LDI intern lead "Spring Retreat" fundraising. Specific Focus of Ministry Areas:Through my work with the Women's ministry I had the opportunity to plan community events, mentor women, as well as do a considerable amount of administrative work. Through my work in "Hope Restored," a counseling ministry of Hope Community, I was able to lead small groups through biblical understanding and together build strategies to succeed in the struggles individuals were fighting through. Also, I had the opportunity for one-on-one counseling opportunities after being trained in "Soul Care."Lastly, through our fundraising efforts, I was able to gain considerable experience in how to successfully work with both the body of the church and the community at large to raise funds for our annual Spring Retreat. This including contacting companies, collaborating with restaurants, working for donations, and selling merchandise.
