Registered Nurse on 31 bed Medical Surgical unit. Charge nurse experience.

Serves as the Registered Nurse (RN) assigned to Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS), Marine and Family Program, Children, Youth, and Teen Program (CYTP) with the responsibility to provide health support services and address special needs accomodation in all CYTP facilities and activities. Serves as a primary liason on health support services between CYTP and the instillation medical authority. Ensures compliance with regulatory program requirements and standards to assist in maintaining DoD certification. Conducts individual and group training demonstrating proper health practices, proper care of children, and maintanence of a healthy environment. Provides parental support resources and referral according to child and family needs.

Served a a health technician traveling to various companies to provide onsite customized preventative health management services to clients through health coaching. Measured blood pressure, height, weight, blood glucose, and cholesterol then reviewed result with the client. Helped clients identify health concerns and recognize community resources for proper follow up.

10 week program focused on enhancing clinical skills and professional development. Worked with a staff nurse under their direct supervision performing patient care duties and assignments. Maintained a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families. Performed nursing procedures such as foley catheter insertion, nasogastric tube insertion, starting and discontinuing IV's, capillary blood glucose testing, and safe medication administration. Performed other nursing duties deemed clinically competent to perform. Documented clear, concise, and organized patient reports within a timely manner using the nursing process. Utilized appropriate lines of communication to problem solve and develop positive working relationships.
