In retirement I continue professional writing, some limited research consultation, and professional-development teaching. Currently I am serving my last year as an officer for the American Fisheries Society (first elected as Second VP in 2017, served as President 2020-21, now serving as Immediate Past President 2021-22).

I conduct research, teaching, and public outreach in all aspects of fisheries science. My focus is on the sustainable management of fisheries: domestic freshwater recreational fisheries; and international subsistence and small-scale commercial fisheries, particularly as they are impacted by hydropower development.
