I received my BA in Anthropology at the University of California, Santa Cruz after transferring from San Diego Mesa Community College. My coursework varied widely and included studies in culture, linguistics, genetics, evolution, anatomy, archaeology, and niche topics such as human paleopathology. I am first and foremost passionate about the biological sciences and hold interest in human evolution and human genetics, though I have also done extensive work in cultural fields of research. My Senior Seminar paper was an ethnography conducted over several months about queer expressions in contemporary goth club scenes. I started pursuing anatomy after analyzing prosected human cadavers at Mesa Community College, then later preparing museum study skins of birds during an internship at UCSC. I did specimen prep with the Mammalogy team at NHMLAC where I took tissue samples and skin skulls for preservation. I was also a Terrestrial Husbandry volunteer at the California Science Center, helping to feed, provide enrichment, document behavior, and clean enclosures of vertebrates and invertebrates. Now I work at the California Science Center as an Educator, helping to engage visitors with exhibits and teach them about the natural world. I continue to volunteer in my spare time, currently this means assisting wildlife rehabilitators in caring for injured and oiled birds at the International Bird Rescue.
