My role entails providing strategic leadership for planning, zoning, historic preservation, building, business licensing, parking, and code enforcement initiatives, with a view to driving comprehensive and sustainable growth in the City.As the Executive of the department, I am committed to providing direction and guidance that aligns with the City's broader objectives. I work tirelessly to ensure that our planning and development initiatives are comprehensive, sustainable, and tailored to meet the needs of the community. Mountain Home, Idaho

As the Community Development Director for the City of Mountain Home, I perform administrative, managerial, and technical work in planning, organizing, coordinating, and directing programs, projects, and work of the Economic Development and Planning & Zoning Divisions of the Community Development Department.In my short tenure, I have played essential roles in:- Changes to the City's Zoning Ordinance in regards to the development of "missing middle" housing, including Eliminating further hearing requirements for duplexes, townhomes, and multi-family dwellings; No longer requiring the applicant to build half of the roadway for specific sized infill projects; Eliminating the maximum lot coverage and minimum yard area requirements for R-4 and R-3 residential zoning districts; and eliminating the minimum dwelling floor area requirement for the R-4 district. - Codifying the City's Special Event Permitting Process.- The creation of the "Downtown Overlay," which allows zero off-street parking requirements, decreased height restrictions, and zero-lot-line development. - The creation and drafting of the City's first Mobile Food Concessions ordinance. - The creation and drafting of the City's first Municipal Fiber Optic System ordinance.- The creation and drafting of the City's Master Pathways Plan and corresponding ordinance.- The implementation of an electronic building plan review.- The adoption and implementation of online City permitting.- Significant updates to development impact fees.- The establishment of Mountain Home's first trade school, the "Mountain Home Adult Training Academy."- Mountain Home's designation as the "Mural Capital of Idaho."- The reconfiguration and implementation of Imagine Mountain Home's Downtown Exterior Improvement and Downtown Durable Services grant programs.- The creation and production of Idaho's first municipal podcast, Mountain Home Stories.

Twin Falls, Idaho

As a city planner for Twin Falls, I was assigned routine and complex planning tasks. These tasks involved current and long-range planning activities such as reviewing building, development, and subdivision plans to ensure compliance with local code requirements; Researching, reviewing, and preparing zoning and special use permit requests; Preparing staff reports, findings of fact, and code compliance letters; Assisting with routine updates to the zoning code, comprehensive plan, and other unique land use plans and studies (neighborhood plans, downtown plans, economic analyses, design guidelines, transportation studies, etc.). I also served as assigned project manager of the Twin Falls Development Code Re-Write.

Meridian, Idaho

I served as an assistant city planner for the City of Meridian located in the heart of Idaho’s Treasure Valley. During my brief tenure at Meridian, the city was deemed one of the nation's fastest-growing.My primary duties as an Assistant City Planner were to assist the general public, developers, builders, small business owners, and fellow City staff by communicating ordinances, policies, and procedures. I was responsible for the review of administrative level land use applications and submittals for conformity to established plans and regulations. I also composed routine correspondence and provided staff support as assigned.

Moscow, Idaho

I served as an Outreach & Research Associate working on a project titled "Understanding and Improving Rural Community Revitalization Assessment Programs in the Three States," funded by a grant rewarded by the National Institute of Food and Agriculture. The purpose of the project is to determine if the current manner we conduct and implement community reviews/assessments in small/rural communities is finding the success we hope such community reviews/assessments are intended to lead to. My work consisted of background research, co-facilitating ripple effects mapping sessions, ripple effects mapping data analysis, report writing, and editing, and database development and management.

Washington D.C. Metro Area

While serving as a Graduate Intern for a U.S. Senator on the Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee, I was responsible for managing and completing research projects and policy analysis. I also read and drafted responses to bill legislation and press releases. I engaged and responded to constituents via phone, email, and in-person daily. I also attended Congressional sessions and briefings and created summary memos for the Senator and Staff.
