As the Community Development Director for the City of Mountain Home, I perform administrative, managerial, and technical work in planning, organizing, coordinating, and directing programs, projects, and work of the Economic Development and Planning & Zoning Divisions of the Community Development Department.In my short tenure, I have played essential roles in:- Changes to the City's Zoning Ordinance in regards to the development of "missing middle" housing, including Eliminating further hearing requirements for duplexes, townhomes, and multi-family dwellings; No longer requiring the applicant to build half of the roadway for specific sized infill projects; Eliminating the maximum lot coverage and minimum yard area requirements for R-4 and R-3 residential zoning districts; and eliminating the minimum dwelling floor area requirement for the R-4 district. - Codifying the City's Special Event Permitting Process.- The creation of the "Downtown Overlay," which allows zero off-street parking requirements, decreased height restrictions, and zero-lot-line development. - The creation and drafting of the City's first Mobile Food Concessions ordinance. - The creation and drafting of the City's first Municipal Fiber Optic System ordinance.- The creation and drafting of the City's Master Pathways Plan and corresponding ordinance.- The implementation of an electronic building plan review.- The adoption and implementation of online City permitting.- Significant updates to development impact fees.- The establishment of Mountain Home's first trade school, the "Mountain Home Adult Training Academy."- Mountain Home's designation as the "Mural Capital of Idaho."- The reconfiguration and implementation of Imagine Mountain Home's Downtown Exterior Improvement and Downtown Durable Services grant programs.- The creation and production of Idaho's first municipal podcast, Mountain Home Stories.

These tasks involved current and long-range planning activities such as reviewing building, development, and subdivision plans to ensure compliance with local code requirements; Researching, reviewing, and preparing zoning and special use permit requests; Preparing staff reports, findings of fact, and code compliance letters; Assisting with routine updates to the zoning code, comprehensive plan, and other unique land use plans and studies (neighborhood plans, downtown plans, economic analyses, design guidelines, transportation studies, etc.). I served as an assistant city planner for the City of Meridian located in the heart of Idaho’s Treasure Valley. During my brief tenure at Meridian, the city was deemed one of the nation's fastest-growing.My primary duties as an Assistant City Planner were to assist the general public, developers, builders, small business owners, and fellow City staff by communicating ordinances, policies, and procedures.
