About Bron Thulke

Hi, I’m Bron! I’m a full stack developer, with over 20 years’ experience in building websites and applications. I don’t “just” build software. I have a rich experience in working across the full lifecycle of a project, including requirements gathering and planning, solution design, development, launch and maintenance of software. I’ve worked on projects of varying size, for a wide range of clients in different industries. I choose the technology to work with based on the needs of each individual project. Most commonly I develop in C#, ASP.NET, HTML, CSS and JavaScript, and I enjoy the challenge of trying out a variety of tools, libraries and frameworks to help improve the workflow, development and maintenance of sites. I have extensive experience with running sites on Microsoft Azure and Amazon AWS, using continuous integration and continuous deployment tools.I always keep a little part of my week to myself, to work on self-development. For example, currently I’m taking a short course on Machine Learning to build my knowledge in this exciting developing field.I’m competent in database administration (SQL Server, MySQL), and web server administration (Windows and Linux), including Azure and AWS architectures. If you have any web projects you’ve got going and need help or want to kick-off, email me at bron@angelwebdesigns.com.au and you can check out my portfolio at http:// angelwebdesigns.com.au/portfolio. Technical Specialties: Web development, ASP.NET, C#, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, SQL Server, MySQL, CMS development, hosting setup and maintenance, and domain and DNS management.Business and Management: building/maintaining client relationships, planning, project management, defining processes.Other things of interest: I’m a passionate nerd, and love almost anything that combines rules with fun! Tabletop role playing and board games, computer games, various crafts, sewing.

Web Developer Contractor

Development and maintenance of an existing CRM system for Jeanswest, which I had previously worked on during my time with True Digital and then with Smart Melbourne. Jeanswest requested that I come onboard directly with them to continue the maintenance of the system, and to assist them with a future replacement of it.During mid-2009 I was contracted again to plan, design and develop an internal website application for staff training and information purposes, which I developed in ASP.NET and deployed on an internal server.

Jul 2008 - Mar 2009

Technical Lead/Web Developer Contractor

Smart Melbourne

Contracted by Smart Melbourne to perform project planning and web development for a large ASP.NET website working with one other developer. The site was for Greyhound Racing NSW -- www.thedogs.com.au, which is now live.

Jun 2008 - Jan 2009

Technical Director

My work at True Digital included the maintenance of existing websites that had been created or taken over by the company, as well as the leadership in technical direction for new projects that were underway.I acted as the system administrator of their web server (originally a Linux server running Apache), and later performed a migration of all the existing sites (10+ in use at the time) from that Linux server to a newly acquired Windows Server 2008 system. I set up and maintained IIS 7.0, PHP, MySQL and SmarterMail on the server, and migrated the sites over, which included an upgrade to both PHP and MySQL. I was involved in the planning and technical management of the commencement of a major project, the development of a new website for Greyhound Racing NSW. Regrettably the company went into liquidation in July 2008, which led me to the contract role at SMART (see above).

Apr 2008 - Jun 2008

Project Manager

In September 2006 I moved into a Team Leader position on a Support and Maintenance Project, and after around six months I took over the project management. I then took on the project management of five other small support projects, including one that was supported from Logica’s office in Bangalore. During this time I also continued to perform some development work, investigating and resolving defects and change requests as time permitted around my main role. The main responsibilities in the project management roles included completion of financial and status reports, managing client expectations and reporting to them on a regular basis, and resolving any conflicts of interest. I was also the driver in the implementation of improved QA processes and methodology on the project, and managed all resourcing.
