Npdes Coordinator
CurrentCoordinating surface water management program activities including compliance with NPDES (National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System) Phase II Permit requirements and implementation of the city's Surface Water Management Comprehensive Plan. This is highly responsible technical work requiring considerable interaction within the organization, local, state and federal agencies and interest groups. Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesDevelops and coordinates the requirements of the City's NPDES Phase II Municipal Stormwater Permit.Develops, plans, and acts as project lead; identifies priorities and creates timelines; ensures that deadlines are met.Provides technical knowledge of surface water management to other city departments/divisions; communicates with public and other agencies; responds to inquiries related to surface water management programs.Assists in the updates and implementation of the city's Surface Water Management Comprehensive Plan.Maintains record keeping systems and creates customized reports from various databases and applications using multiple delivery methods; Coordinates ongoing surface water management compliance activities including permit renewal, annual reporting requirements, and plan updates both with internal divisions and with adjacent jurisdictions.Conducts studies and assists with monitoring activities.Studies new methods and applications related to surface water management to keep abreast of modern developments.Represents the city in meetings with other governmental agencies, jurisdictions and professional groups.Makes recommendations to management regarding policies and procedures based on field observations and interactions with other departments, the public, and outside agencies.
