As an associate communications strategist, I primarily work in internal communications for Textron Systems. I work extensively to strategize communications for both non-networked and networked employees at the company. These communications include newsletters, articles, photographs, videos and more. In this position, I also contribute to the company's external communications efforts. I work closely with the company's senior PR strategist to write press releases, improve the company's SEO and bring awareness to Textron Systems' various accomplishments.

In my role as a digital intern, I spent the first month of my internship constructing The Advocate's first voter guide series for the state of Louisiana. Putting together the series involved me using BLOX CMS to manage questionnaire entries from each candidate and to publish each voter guide. To ensure that all candidates were represented, I had to contact most candidates via email or phone to ensure that they submitted the questionnaire needed for the voter guide. In the second portion of my internship, I used BLOX CMS once again to upload and publish The Advocate's letters to the editor on the news outlets' websites.

At the Olinde Career Center, I created graphics for the career center's Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn accounts through the Adobe Creative Cloud. To do this, I mainly used Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Lightroom. I also created original copywriting for both the captions and graphics. Later, I scheduled its content using Hootsuite. With the content I've created, I collaborated with the communications team on how to best promote events and market our materials through social media. Once a plan had been finalized, I executed our promotional plans through social media posts and stories.

At The Aerospace Corporation, I worked with the corporate communications department to generate content and to create more awareness of the corporation. As a strategic communications intern, I wrote and executed communications plans and strategies for new content ideas. Additionally, I wrote articles for Aerospace's Summer Intern Blog on Medium. My communications plan and work on this blog increased social media engagement by 4% on Aerospace's official social media accounts. Much of my time was also spent working to generate awareness of Aerospace's research and developments to external outlets. I pitched stories to reporters at notable news outlets about Aerospace's impressive work such as its Mars simulations and more.

At inRegister, I wrote and published 3-5 feature articles weekly on trending topics in fashion, cuisine and interior design. With inRegister being focused on Baton Rouge businesses, I worked closely with local businesses to conduct interviews and feature them in my articles. Writing for the magazine forced me to master the magazine's unique brand voice throughout my writing. Additionally, it encouraged me to learn how to write and publish content using WordPress. My articles were featured in inRegister's weekly newsletters, as well as on its website. I also attended and photographed local events for upcoming feature articles.

As an editorial intern, a large part of my role consisted of conducting research for upcoming conferences and panels. My research was then used by the moderators of the panels to create questions and to familiarize themselves with the speakers. Aside from researching, I also frequently collaborated with CNBC Events' audience development team to prepare materials, such as virtual invitations or written recaps of events. Additionally, I assisted them in preparing for upcoming panels and finding interested guests. While in the position, I also was able to write and publish articles for CNBC.com.

During my internship, I created and scheduled social media posts for the magazine's Instagram and Facebook. My overall goal was to create content that increased engagement for their digital and print journalism. I also researched and implemented social media strategies in order to increase engagement on each platform and to bring traffic to the publication's website.

In my time as a staff reporter, I conducted interviews, pitched story ideas, as well as published hard news articles weekly. In addition, I spent a large portion of my time at the publication working to fact-check articles prior to its publication. From my experience, I gained a strong understanding of how to produce content that will be well-received, as well as how to promote content in the most effective way.
