About Brooke Sebold
Brooke Stern Sebold (they/she) is a filmmaker and editor whose work has won jury and audience awards internationally over two decades. Brooke is also a social entrepreneur who creates media that contributes positively to the greater good. In 2021, Brooke founded See / Bold / Films, a creative media company committed to evolving culture through stories.In partnership with the production company Second Peninsula, Brooke is currently creating and hosting a series called I Changed My Mind, which aims to normalize what changing mind looks like. The project is supported by The Greater Good Science Center at Berkeley University.In 2022, Brooke co-produced and edited the feature documentary Framing Agnes, which was named a Best Movie of the Year by The New Yorker after premiering at Sundance, where it won the NEXT Innovator Award and the NEXT Audience Award. In 2006, Brooke's first feature documentary, Red Without Blue, won the Audience Award at Slamdance and the Jury Award at Frameline, and screened at festivals and museums worldwide, later airing on the Sundance Channel, PBS, Logo, Netflix and Amazon Prime over its long life.Through the years, Brooke directed and produced over 20 web and television spots for Planned Parenthood, some of which aired nationally on NBC's Morning Joe and locally, in the backseats of NYC taxicabs. Brooke's narrative short films have won awards at Palm Springs ShortsFest and the Florida Film Festival, and Brooke is also the recipent of the Cine Golden Eagle Award for Excellence in Directing.When Brooke isn’t creating or pitching projects, they're editing the Emmy nominated series, Brief But Spectacular, which airs weekly on PBS NewsHour. Brooke received their BA from Brown University (2003) and her MFA with honors from Columbia University's Film Program (2012). Brooke grew up in the Sonoran desert and loves crystals, doggies, tiramisu and she or they pronouns.
